A delicious ploughman’s and tough questions but we did our best! The 5 Sparklers didn’t sparkle as much as we would like to have done but we came a respectable 6th out of 10 teams.

We went to Bar Estilo in the Atrium for our meal on Thursday. Delicious food, a good atmosphere and great company.

The Light Between Oceans
There was lots of discussion about this very interesting book at yesterday’s meeting. Powerful moral themes, intense relationships and lots more – certainly a ‘good read’ although you do need tissues at times! Our next book is Sense and Sensibility by Joanna Trollope – a modern take on Jane Austin.
Poppy Factory Visit
Buying a poppy in November will not be the same having been to the Poppy Factory and seen the people at work. It was fascinating to see the wreaths being made, from simple to royal and we watched one man making piles of WI wreaths. One lady was making the royal poppies from red silk with black broom centres. Ian, a retired sub-mariner, told us about the history and the work of the charity. He was a mine of information and a very amusing raconteur. It was a really interesting afternoon
